Samantha Gibbs, better known as Samantha Jade, is a singer-songwriter, former child model, and budding actress from Perth, Western Australia. She has released two singles but a scheduled album was not released. She has written songs for Ashley Tisdale and JoJo.
Career :
Jade began modeling at age four. When she was nine, she won a talent show, singing "Amazing Grace".[1] Jade retired from modeling[1] and, in 2003, moved to Los Angeles with her parents and two younger brothers, in order to pursue a singing career.[2] That year, a song she co-wrote, "Secret Love," was recorded by JoJo for the 2004 Shark Tale soundtrack. Jade performed the title track to the 2006 film Step Up; the song appeared on the Billboard Pop 100 chart for one week, at number 92.[3] A second single, "Turn Around", failed to chart.
Her debut album, My Name Is Samantha Jade, was originally planned for release in 2006, but was not released.
Jade co-wrote one song on Ashley Tisdale's 2007 album, Headstrong,[4] and sang backup vocals.
Jade will make her film debut in the Eye of the Dolphin sequel,[5] Beneath the Blue, which is tentatively scheduled for release in 2009.
